  I had a relative recently debate me to the death (well not really....lol) about this:

  me: I believe that most worldly people want to live in peace and love.

  relative: Are you kidding me? Do you see all of the problems in the world? These worldly people want to see you dead!

  me: I don't believe that. If most worldly people were violent and hateful, there would be more problems than what we see today. There is lots of violence and hatred in the world but there would be worldwide anarchy if most worldly people wanted to kill each other. JWs are not keeping the world from self destructing.

  relative: You are so naive, you better be careful because in the world, even in this country most people you encounter want to see you suffer and die!

  New Here....and a Brief Intro

  after lurking around here for about a month, i thought it's appropriate to introduce myself to such fine group of people.. i was never a jw.

  been married to a baptized mate for over 15 years.

  my wife was never technically all in, more of a fader, rarely went to meetings, the occasional memorial, a convention once or twice.

  Can't wait to read your thread about the similarities between JWs and communism. I love seeing the connections between other twisted groups and the witnesses. Helps me put things in perspective!

  i decided to update my resume and realized that i have to take out a couple of things.

  my pioneer school under education and bible instructor under volunteer experience.

  i can't believe i actually put those on there and got hired.

  You know I was thinking about this again. The reason it's so embarrassing is b/c it means we were brainwashed to think that Jehovah would bless us with a job. So if we put down something witness related it was like a lucky charm (which we don't believe in). If we got the job it wasn't b/c of being skilled in that particular field but rather that Jehovah blessed us for not being ashamed of him and his name.

  It never dawned on me that the other people at the company got the job too........without being enrolled in the theocratic ministry school.

  outlander - when a person is disfellowshipped now they say that "so and so is no longer one of jehovah's witnesses" instead of saying they have been disfellowshipped. It's not particularly a big deal and when I brought it up to my aunt I was really just making small talk, but she just lost it.

  Incidentally on this forum we say DA'd = means you disassociated yourself and DF'd = disfellowshipped and faded = you left gradually w/o being DF'd or DA'g yourself.

  I tried to engage my aunt in a conversation about the disfellowshipping change. I was still in at the time. We were riding home from the meeting. I said, " boy all these years people were disfellowshipped and just like that they change the wording.....it doesn't make sense." She went OFF and started babbling that she was gonna wait on jehovah and if that's the way the slave wants it then that's the way it will be. .......I mean she was soooo angry. like somebody had stolen her crack cocaine.........the die hards are completely crazy!

  Start planning now for 2014- the 100th anniversary of 1914

  it's not too soon to start mentioning that to jw's- let them know that 100 years is a long time and even g-d only made the israelites wander in the wilderness for 40 years, before he brought them to the promised land.

  let the doubt begin creeping in and let the jw's know they aren't the only ones with doubts.

  i will mention 2014 to jw's from now on- it's a date that the wt hopes the jw's will ignore..

  Question For Current Elder On Public Reproof & Restrictions

  first of all, i have no intentions of confessing any thing to a committee!

  but i've got the goods on my ex-father-in-law that will get him disfellowshipped.

  i don't normally go around doing that kind of thing, but he lied and had another elder lie trying to get me disfellowshipped when ever my wife walked out on my seven-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter to fly from al to ny to be with a man she met on the internet.

  BroGone I totally know where you are on this. I had a major meltdown with regards to the decline of my parent's marriage and how it was not handled properly by the BOE. My mostly irregular mother had been building a case against my inactive father for years. He did not want a divorce and tried to save the marriage. But she's a good cryer and an excellent liar. When my father appealled to the elders to meet with them together to save the marriage he was told "brother, just return to jehovah and the meetings."-----there are many cases similar to yours as daringhart says.

  My point is: (and I'm gonna raise my voice here) They are not concerned with truth, justice, fairness, or what is in the best interests of your family. The person who is most active in the org. wins.......always.

  What everyone here is trying to do is help you find peace on this........let it go. Your feelings/thoughts are definitely justified. But if you're looking for justice, stop looking. It ain't gonna happen. Trust us on this one.

  When we try to make this crooked organization straight we only harm ourselves.

  Well I have to say that I feel more stupid than bright. It took me 36 long years to make it out of the cult. (I know, i know, I was born in but geez......36 years?)

  Having said that I feel very lucky to have found you guys. I have never been part of an online forum and I am honored and humbled to sit among you. You're my lifeline. I value your words so much. (even the ones I don't agree with.....lol) I think you guys are geniuses and I must have a little genius in me since I agree w/y'all so much. Your experiences and encouragement mean more to me than you will ever know.
